motors wont move
inkscape extension communication, no motot action
inkscape egg bot extensions are working (ubuntu 12), communication works, i get the eggbot ebb version V1.6a returned from a manual control request. but when issuing a raise pen command, tx rx light blink but there is no servo movement. I have verified Im in servo 1 and not connected backworks.

Is there some simple code samples for the leonardo / bot brain shield to do motor testing?

RE: motors wont move
Which version of the inkscape are you using?
You can try to move the motors using the serial comm commands. More info here: http://forums.jjrobots.com/thread-1199.html

Pen servo was bad, replaced it and now it moves. sending commands via serial monitor returns OK, but no movement for both stepper motors.
inkscape on ubuntu is 0.48. its what installed from apt-get. pen servo does move with inkscape extension manual control.
I am going to swap out the driver boards( i have a few lying aroung )

If you are getting the OK that means that the Arduino is OK. The problem might come from the stepper motors drivers. Can you upload a photo of them already mounted on the Brain shield?

d'oh. the stepper can't run off arduion voltage. where does the 12v power connect to?

You need to connect the power supply to the Arduino POWER jack:
