I also received the tiniest micro-aluminum heatsinks with them; if the new drivers generate less heat, they might work OK. For me, I'm going to use the much-larger blue aluminum heatsinks that I already know work fine with the older drivers. They are readily available on both Amazon and eBay; I paid $7.45US for 10; cheaper if you order from China and are willing to wait longer.

Note: this new BOM shows the new stepper drivers, but with the old blue aluminum heatsinks, not those much smaller ones you are actually shipping that I just received. Which ones are you going to standardize going forward on for the newer better stepper drivers? Thanks for clarifying.

The camera slider "needs" smooth motor drivers so we opted for the TMC2208. They are as accurate as the regular A4988 but they are silent and more smooth. Did you order the A4988? They will work but please notice this: the motors will spin in the opposite direction. We are just including the TMC2208 with the CAMERA SLIDER KIT

We recommend you a 12V or 9V battery holder with the regular 5.5mm connector, like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/5-5x2-1mm-Connector-8x1-5V-Battery-Holder/dp/B01GEBW7Q8/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=battery+holder+12v&qid=1582536742&sr=8-6

Or if you are planning to connect it to your car battery, use this one: https://www.amazon.com/12V-24V-Charger-Power-Supply-Cable/dp/B07DKXWRVD/ref=sr_1_1?crid=ZZGLLIUCP0FU&keywords=12v+dc+5.5mm+x+2.1mm+car+cigarette+lighter+power+supply+adapter+cable&qid=1582536831&sprefix=car+12v+5.5%2Caps%2C252&sr=8-1

We will add a battery holder to the KIT asap. Would you like to get one from us (a 9V, 6xAA batteries)?
I am using this battery pack. : https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/32988790342.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.30b156735BYITG&algo_pvid=4b4b8d23-62f9-4183-834e-dbe343c99af8&algo_expid=4b4b8d23-62f9-4183-834e-dbe343c99af8-6&btsid=0ab50f4415906604166585384e38d4&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_
Been testing yesterday and got around 1 hour of footage, without draining the battery pack. But you can get a 20000mah for 23 euro so that is pretty nice.

Thanks for the link. We just got one! :-)

This is the rechargeable Li-ion battery from Amazon I use to power my slider:

Basically, the hardware changes, but the electronics, motors, cables ... almost 70% of the ancillary elements are the same.
So, if you have created the original CAMERA slider, it will be easy to create this one.

We have moved to smoother STEPPER MOTOR DRIVERS (Stepstick TMC2208) too. We will post everything as soon as we test everything 200%.

The control APP will be the same.

I just finished to mount the new rail version. However I am using the old version of the Devia board: the rotation of the platform is inadequate as the new pulley is larger than on the old system.

Is there a suitable version of the code to be injected into the old Devia version which takes into account the modification of the platform and pulley?

Many thanks!

RE: CAMERA SLIDER rail version - strawhat20 - 08-16-2020 07:14 PM

I have the original camera slider that came with a brain shield mounted on an arduino. Looking to upgrade to v2. Can I assume that I don't need to replace the arduino/brain shield combo with a Devia board?

Thanks!!

I did it. It works but but the rotation of the camera is distorted because the dimension of the plate and the drive pulley are different in the new version ... I think that this problem can be corrected by a simple modification of the code. For now, JJRobots still has not confirmed the release of a modified code for the old system (Leonardo + brain).

You're welcome... The problem is that I'm not able myself to make this modification of the code... I am disappointed by the lack of reaction from JJRobots ... who had accustomed us to quick responses in the past! Sad

I was holding out for the same option myself, i.e. retain the original control board and much of the original gearing and turntable, but definitely replace the two round rails with a 20x40 extrusion and design a carriage and new ends to mate the old with the new. The round bars flex too much and because they are round, they can rotate just enough in the ends that I have never had a video that didn't have waviness or jitter. They are like those rope bridges over canyons like you see in Indiana Jones movies. Smile
