Brain Shield version differences - jostevemaui - 03-04-2017 04:53 AM

I have two Brain shields one says version 2.2 and one says version 2.3 .
What is the difference?

Is V2.3 the latest board?

Is Brobot ESP12 the correct schematic for these boards?

Will both these boards run the BROBOT_EVO2_15 code?

Will they both run the Code on the JJ Robot GitHub?

Thanks for your time in advance.

We will update the github as soon as possible (sometimes this is a little bit tricky) with the new updates and modifications.
The short version:
the v2.3 is the latest board, ready for the Robotic Arm (we are still working on it). We wanted to make easier to connect everything to the board so we have changed a little the physical shape of the board. The 2.3 and 2.2 are 100% compatible but the 2.3 will not need soldering if you want to control the new upcoming robot.

What is version 3.0 then? Listed in your Shop:
http://www.jjrobots.com/product/b-robot-electronic-brain-shield-v2-0/ (URL says v2 but the page says v3)

Also, this zip in this post...

...seems to be newer than what is on github here
https://github.com/jjrobots/B-ROBOT/tree/master/hardware/electronics

Also, I can't tell what versions those schematics/boards that I linked above. I don't see a version in the schematic or board layout, just FYI.

We are making our best to unify the Brain Shield versions we are selling in the USA (mrobotics.io) and the European version. There are some WIFI signal..."restrictions" forcing us to slightly modify the versions.

Anyway, all the Brain Shields are 100% compatible. So, you can create any jjRobot with all of them (to achieve that we have modified/adapted all the Arduino codes)

In a week we will upload to github all the schematics/layout and info about the Brain shield (at the same time, we will release another robot -I hope!-). But yes, updating the Github is critical!

Well, nice work, keep it up! I'm looking at getting a kit, but always like to be sure what I am getting (and with the schematics, what I can later mod Smile
