Full Version: Shield Stacking Headers

The non-complete version of the Electronic Brain Shield comes with two 8-pin shield stacking headers. Where should they be placed; that is, above which of the Leonardo pins should they be placed? It would be helpful if someone could post a picture of the completed shield (top and bottom view) with all headers installed.

Do you mean the 8 pin female headers of the motor drivers?
Take a look to the attached photo. It will help.

No, I mean the headers that allow the shield to stack above the Leonardo board. The Leonardo board has 13 pins on one side (A0 to IOREF), and 18 pins on the other side (0 to SCL) -- a total of 31 pins. Your package only includes two 8-pin shield stacking headers -- a total of 16 pins. The photo you posted shows solder blobs above every one of the Leonardo pins that are visible, so apparently you used a stacking header for all 31 pins.

I just realized I used the wrong term. Instead of "shield stacking headers", I should say "headers mounted below the board for insertion into the Leonardo board".
You should solder all the headers provided to the B-robot brain shield. There are some pins coming from the Leonardo that are not needed (SCL/SDA, IOREF...).

Once you have soldered all the pin headers that will attach the B-robot to the Leonardo board you will have:
- 2x8 pins headers soldered in the "left side" of the B-robot brain shield
- 2x6 pins headers soldered in the "right side"
All placed on the bottom side of the Shield. Opposite face where all the electronic components are.
